the difference between hoot and hot

Back in the beginning incarnations of Pommes Frites, the main thing I made was not, in fact, flask books. It was soy owl candles. These were a big hit and I even wholesaled them to Sprout Home in Brooklyn... up until my mold broke. It's an old plastic mold I bought on ebay, and it had just worn out and was cracked everywhere after being used hundreds of times.

However, I did have another mold, way before that. It looked a little something like this:

I recently discovered I still have about 20 lbs of soy wax lurking in my work room, so I decided to put it to good use. Problem is, making candles in TX heat without central air is a real bitch. It was about 95 degrees in our little house. So either I'm gonna crank the AC and bear it, or these candles will have to wait until winter. But eventually, they will show up in the shop.

Maybe you could make them during the Etsy Austin street team's Sunday Crafternoon get-together... which is bound to have central A/C!

ah, that would be great! Unfortunately I always work doubles on Sunday so I can't go to the craft meet up :-/
