Mount Up - We're Moving!

If you follow me on twitter, you may have seen this sneak peek of a poster I bought from Public School during Renegade. I have re-posted it above for non-tweepies. Now, you may have thought "who doesn't like a little Warren G action" (btw, if you don't know the song this is referencing, I've posted it below for your viewing pleasure), but there actually is some deeper meaning to why I purchased this.

You see.... I'm moving! In fact, we're all moving - in August! And I'm not just talking about servers or blog addresses. Tom, Pommes Frites, Max, the cats and I are all moving to..... Long Beach, CA!

Earlier this year I mentioned a cross-country move might be a possibility, and now it's really happening! Tom will be attending school out there, so we're all going with.

I'll be sad to leave Austin and the friends I've made here, especially my Etsy Austin folks. It's not as easy as it was when I left New York - then, I was ready to go. I was "done" with New York, ready for a change.

I also picked up these California history pencils from Paper Pastries. No time to learn like the present!

Truth be told, I've always wanted to live in California (my dad was born there but moved to Virginia when he was young; I always felt like I got the short end of the stick - I should have been a California girl!!) although I probably didn't see myself moving to Long Beach.

So, I need your help! Do you know anything awesome about Long Beach? I'm looking forward to applying to this craft show and hanging out on Retro Row. I've got a couple neighborhoods picked out for apartment hunting, and have already bookmarked a few boutiques and vintage stores I will be stopping in ASAP. If you know any awesome Long Beach tidbits, let me know in the comments! I'll also take some basic LA knowledge - or Southern California in general.

I'll have you know, Tom and I have been practicing this song non-stop. It's our "moving to Long Beach" jam - since it's of course, about The LBC. I'm taking the Warren G part.

It's always exciting and a bit scary to move to a new city!

I heard from the Austin Craft Riot board you were moving. Good luck out there! I actually really like Long Beach - definitely a mix of everything. If you have a chance, I would go to this restaurant - can't get it outside of So. Cal. (or Hawaii) and I miss it terribly. http://www.yelp.com/biz/kings-hawaiian-bakery-and-restaurant-torrance
