We woke at six this morning to discover our power was out. The little space heater we have constantly running in the bedroom was dead, and it was freezing. It was twenty degrees outside, and inside. Just two days ago, it was 70 degrees.
Every 45 minutes, the power would come back on, only to go out again ten minutes later. Most of Texas has been experiencing rolling blackouts today.

My forgotten pots from summer, frozen over
To keep warm, we ran the gas heater in the living room, propped open the oven, and I made candles on the stove.

We also lit every single candle in the house. Somehow, it seems to warm things, even if just a little bit.

The power is back on now, and snow is on the horizon, so I forsee a night of movie watching under the blankets.
